This is a 1955 Mercury Custom Series – V8 with 78,745 miles on the odometer.  The car is finished in red with a complementary red and white vinyl interior.

The car is mostly original.  It has been re-sprayed the original color and it has the original interior colors and material but this has likely been refinished in the past.  The car has all the original gauges, steering wheel, mirrors, radio and clock. It also has a newer radio hooked up that does work with two speakers in the front. It has the original 292 cid  Y-Block V8 and 3 speed Merc-O-Matic transmission. This car has plenty of power and it shifts smoothly and quietly.  In addition, it has power steering and power brakes but most important, the body is straight and the frame and the rockers are solid.

There are a couple of small issues that need to be taken care of. The Mercury placard is missing on the driver's side, it has a crack in the windshield, and the passenger side window is off track and does not roll down. There are a couple of minor bubbling spots just above the rockers and some of the chrome is a little pitted.  The interior is in good condition but requires some minor TLC; some of the headliner is a little loose and some of the fabric seals around the passenger door need to be refitted.

This car presents a very easy and manageable list of items to work on and requires no major work; don’t let this one get away.
