Vehicle Description
This is a 1968 Ford F-250 with the highly desirable Camper Special option and only 38,581 original miles. The truck is equipped with the legendary 360 cubic inch V8 coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 Dana 60 rear end. This truck served many years on a New England farm, so we were surprised to find it as clean as it is. The truck retains its original paint scheme, although the Blue Crush paint has been refreshed sometime in the past 15-20 years.
This F-250 caught our eye with its attractive color combination and its solid chassis and body. Most of the 60s Ford pickups have rotted away, but this one only has two spots that really need attention on the driver’s side cab corner and the frame cross-member under the cab. These are the only spots of rot on the truck, and both could be addressed with light work or left for the time being. There are certainly small spots of surface rust on the body where paint has chipped off during farm chores, but the truck is very solid overall. The floor pans, frame rails and suspension are in fantastic shape.
The interior is very clean as well, with only a quarter-sized hole in the upholstery on the bench seat. The dashboard is fully intact and crack-free, and all gauges operate correctly. The dash has also been fitted with water temperature and oil pressure gauges.
The engine runs strong, with a slight tick from the valvetrain as the truck warms up. The gearbox shifts smoothly through all gears and the clutch grabs nicely. This would make a great work truck or a very drivable, light restoration project.
