We're proud to offer for sale this twin-turbocharged 1993 Mazda RX-7 R1 with only 28100 original miles! The R1 trim topped the FD RX-7 lineup and brought dual oil coolers, a shock tower brace, suspension upgrades, and unique styling accoutrements inside and out. This example has received over $10k in maintenance and reliability upgrades over the last several years, and features zero performance modifications to affect the original driving experience. This combination of extremely low mileage and high originality in an R1 is a rare find.This car has been repainted once in its original Vintage Red and when coupled with the excellent and complementary original gray cloth/synthetic suede seats (that have no rips or tears) the car looks absolutely stunning.

The current owner has invested heavily in bringing this R1's mechanicals back to like-new condition, where it can be driven any distance with confidence. After a period of previous owner neglect, the original 1.3-liter 13B rotary engine was completely rebuilt in 2017 with 25k miles on the odometer by the rotary experts at IR Performance in New Jersey; since then, the car has been serviced twice by IR Performance to ensure a smooth engine break-in period. With 2,000 miles now on the rebuilt engine, break-in is complete and it is ready to be driven as intended. It also features a new clutch, rebuilt shifter linkage, and a host of reliability improvements (Koyorad radiator, aftermarket downpipe, and improved fan switch) for improved cooling performance; overheating is a major concern with stock RX-7's, and these were deemed essential to improve engine life and provide peace-of-mind driving. The owner continues to pre-mix the fuel with two-stroke engine oil during fillups to further improve the rotary's operation.

Complete IR Performance documentation is included, along with a recent mechanical inspection report from Precision Imports of New Hampshire to document any residual areas that could use improvement or repair. The car is equipped with A/C and the blower motor works, but it will require conversion to a modern refrigerant. The engine received a rotary compression test at the end of its break-in during its final IR Performance service, and these numbers are included in the paperwork. A brand new, still-packaged battery box cover is also included in the sale.
